"Print to PDF" on network drive doesn't work

Hallo @all!

Hi 1004kue,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Could you let us know Acrobat dot version installed on the machine? To check the version: Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Check if Acrobat is updated to the latest patch using "check for updates" option under Help menu. You may also download updates manually from this link: Adobe software and product updates.  Also, try printing "pdf as image" using the steps given in the following link and see if that helps: Print PDF as image | Adobe Acrobat, Reader

Thanks,

Shivam

I cannot print  from adobe acrobat on mac latest OSX to hp office jet 7510. It worked fine (1-2 weeks ago) but I cannot now. Print monitor says "can´t open" and nothing happens. I can print from all other apps including older versions of Acrobat - Is this an upgrade error?

cannot save after disallowing printing

When I open a pdf I have saved locally, set a permissions password, and click the diskette icon to save it, Acrobat Pro will not allow me to save it in the same folder from which it was opened. I am told I must rename it or select a different location. Is this normal? Is it really the case that Adobe won't save a changed file over itself like any other document (eg, txt, doc, csv)? PDFs are already a hassle, but if I am required to save a file as "myPDF v1", "myPDF v2", "myPDF vN" every time it is changed...fml.

Well, the printer driver programmer did a very bad job! his should go to his forum.

This should be the same on a MacOS and a Windows system.

There are a lot of reasons why you can't overwrite a file. The most obvious one is, that the file is open somewhere else or the authorizations to write to that particular directory are missing.

PDFs not printing correctly to HP printer

I have a user with an issue printing to an HP LaserJet M402. I've already been through all the troubleshooting steps with HP themselves and this doesn't happy with any other file type than PDFs.

Basically, when she sends a document to the printer, it asks for plain letter paper to be inserted into the tray. There is no setting anywhere that I can see which points to there being a misconfiguration within the application (or the printer driver) to indicate this is anything other than an application problem.

Has anyone else encountered this and were they able to rectify it? It happens with all PDF files, not just one specific file or files from a specific sender.

Print preview page size

I am trying to print a document that I need printed on a 24x18 page size, in the page setup and in the printer properties the size is correct, but above the preview the page size is showing 2.4 inches x 1.8 inches. I can not find what is causing this or how to change it, this set up was working fine before.

Which version of Acrobat are you using, and on what operating system? Also, what printer? Does the printer support 24x18 natively, or did you have to define a custom paper size? And lastly, what did change on your computer between the time it last worked correctly, and the first time it did not work? (Operating System upgrade, Acrobat update, new printer driver, ...)

Which version of Acrobat, and on what operating system? Are these PDF files letter sized? What is your normal paper size? On Acrobat’s print dialog, there is an option to “Choose paper source by PDF page size” - does changing this setting make a difference?

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, latest version. Windows 10, The printer is a KIP 7170 and it does support the page size, also if I try to print say a 24x36 the preview says 2.4x3.6 so it's not just the one page size. If I try to print from Auto CAD either page size works.

The only thing I know that I did was using the measuring tool in Adobe, I did try to use the "Change scale ratio and precision" (which is probably the problem) but it didn't seem as if anything changed as far as measuring.

Thanks

Re: Acrobat DC freezes when you try to print

I've experienced this when attempting to print large data PDFs, ones full of images and graphics and at a large quantity (I tried around 40 copies of a 25 page document).

The issue was avoided by opening the PDF in preview (OS X) and printing from there - no freezing at all.

Be aware that’s it’s considered very unwise to do this. You should keep the unprotected original. AND the protected file.

With something like a VisualStudio project, I could see it being unwise to save each individual change (versioning), but when I'm just doing something simple like restricting the option to print a confidential document... Is there some hazard that I may not be able to edit a PDF at a later date? That is, has there ever been a case where Adobe has decided that previous security options were no longer changeable due to some kind of software change?

Thanks for the suggestion. This made me think that it was perhaps related to the "unable to delete because its currently active in the windows explorer preview pane" bug. Unfortunately, this seems not to be the case. Even if I select a different document or close Windows Explorer entirely, it still won't save over itself.+1 for the suggestion though!

Make very sure you are NOT using Acrobat Reader.
