How does one fax a pdf document from a Mac in Yosemite?

I have a telephone land line connected to a cable modem, and an ethernet cable from my Mac to the cable modem.

I would like to fax a simple PDF document. How do I do it?

I began by following this set of instructions, but was never able to get beyond Step 1:

  1. Open the document you want to fax, then choose File > Print.
  2. Choose Fax PDF from the PDF pop-up menu.
  3. Choose your fax machine from the Printer pop-up menu.
  4. Enter the fax number by doing one of the following:If your phone system requires you to dial a prefix for an outside line, type it in the Dialing Prefix field.
    • Type the fax number in the To field.
    • If you see a Contacts button to the right of the To field, click it to select a number.
    • To paste a number into the To field when the Edit > Paste command isn’t available, hold down the Control key as you click in the To field, then choose Paste from the menu that appears.
  5. If you want to include a cover page, select “Use cover page,” then enter a subject and message.
  6. To change your options, use the print options pop-up menu (the pop-up menu within the separator bar). For example, to control how your modem behaves when faxing, choose Fax Modem. You can choose whether to dial with touch tones or pulse tones, whether to listen to the modem as it dials, and whether to wait for a steady dial tone before dialing.
  7. Click Fax.

Problem I have is when I click either "Printer" or "Page Setup," I get this message:

"The Page Setup dialog box is provided by the operating system. To ensure that you can use the full print capabilities of Acrobat, please set all print options from the Application print dialog box. Do you want to continue?"

In short, I never see anything that reads "Fax PDF."

Thanks
