Actually if you are creating PDF from Microsoft Office on Windows using the Adobe Save as PDF feature, there is a way to set the joboptions. Select High Quality Print and all R=G=B text and vector graphics will become DeviceGray in the resultant PDF. DeviceGray will be properly handled as CMYK=(0,0,0,1-G) on the RIP. The default Standard joboptions cause everything to be converted to sRGB.
