When I print to the adobe printer the form fields are flattened (become read only) How can I prevent this?

I have an acrobat document containing  form fields.  When I print to the adobe printer the form fields are flattened (become read only)  How can I prevent this?

I have searched Adobe and google, and all of the articles I have found tell me how to flatten a document.  I am interested in NOT flattening the document.
