Re: No Option for Printing Separations in Acrobat 11

I do have CC.

"As I understand you needs sep's from composite pdf's with live transparency"

Yeah, I would like my separations to have live transparency, but don't know if it's possible.

The outcome I'm trying to achieve is to design in Illy, save as a PDF version that supports live transparency, open in Acrobat and be able to use all the Output and Preflight tools, then, using Acrobat, save a spot separated file (all black for film output) that still contains live transparency and gradients.

I'm making vector spot color gradients in Illy, and as long as it's a relatively simple design with no overlapping colors w gradients, I can do what I need without "printing" separations to post script. At work I can just simply print straight to "AccuRip to Epson". But on freelancing jobs, people need/want a file for every spot color in pure black for output, so I have to "print" to postscript and then split the resulting separated file into individual EPS files. But, when you print to postscript, it flattens all transparency, whic is whay I'm trying to find a way to keep all gradients live in the file so that "55% transparency" in the vector gradient is EXACTLY represented, instead of it flattening it and creating a gradiend "image" with a clipping mask. I haven't had any MAJOR issues with it, but it would be nice to know I have an exact 1-to-1 design to output flow.

I asked Scott Fresener, the author of "How to Print T-Shirts for Fun and Profit", creator a T-Seps and T-Rip, and GIANT in the garment screen printing industry to have a look at this thread. He responded "As for the Adobe link - it sounds like a lot of work rather than clicking the "Print" button and seeing films come out."

And he's right, but again, I am bound by what the client wants delivered, and I'm I sure most everyone knows, sometimes clients want it a certain way just because thats what they know and don't want to do it any other way.

If you have the time, read the entire post. I know from experience a some people do not give a lot of detail when posting, so I went t into excruciating detail so people with a better grasp of Acrobat would see every step and test I've done so I don't get a lot of "try this" when I've already done it. Thanks for taking the time to respond and try to help out.
